How does Posterous work?

Anything can be sent though Pesterous. Posterous will accept any file you send and convert it to the most web friendly format available. It will host everything and publish it online instantly.

For example you can attach any type of file posted along with the text of your email without having any problems. You can even upload a picture and Posterous can resize it for you!

III. Real World Application

-This section will include 3 Lesson Plans for each Elementary, Secondary, and Post Secondary levels. One out of the three needs to be STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math) related.

-An additional section under this heading will provide information about how this application can be used in a Business/Industry Setting.

High School Education:

One possible lesson plan that applies to the High School Education world, is that of creating and posting on a Posterous for an educational technology class. One similar to our EDCI 270, but more of a hands on course. Allowing students be have access to an e-mail account and to create a Posterous is a good way for groups to discuss idea for projects. Posterours makes this possible because you can have more than one e-mail account attached to a specific Posterous.

High School Education:

One possible lesson plan correspond with using Posterous is that it can be used as a way to have a classroom debate one-line. It would be great way for shy students to express how thier opinion without feeling uncomfortable.

Another great thing is that if there is a certain problem that a students does not understand they can post the problem to ask her classmates for help.

Post Secondary Education Science Course:

One possible lesson plan could involve posterous' use of its free audio pod casting feature, which simply requires one to email an audio file to their posterous page, much like with any other post. A professor may have his students go to his/her posterous page and listen to additional material through this pod cast. An example would be a biology professor posting an audio pod cast of him speaking about the calcium ion influx during muscle contractions. Or something like that.

Secondary Education_:_

A possible use for Posterous would be in a high school English class. The blog could be used for online class discussions. Students could be assigned a number of required posts/comments about a particular reading. Since Posterous allows for private blogging, all the teacher would have to do is set up a Posterous with a password given to his/her students. The students would then be able to view what each other had to say and respond with their own opinions. Online discussions would possibly make it easier for students to get a word out.

IV. Demonstration of Educational Value

On Posterous, you can type your blog and also add many other things to your blog such as video, photos, music, documents, etc. This would be a great way for students in high school and lower grades to be more comfortable with a computer and blogging.  They can show their creativity too. For Education, it can be a way for a class to connect in school work and be able to ask questions to each other if they need help.

Posterous has already demonstrated educational value in a class already! In a "web2class" contributors on their own posterous about water and climate.  They have used the blog to post their own ideas in videos and podcasts. They have used posterous to make a project come together. It is almost like our wiki, except they used Posterous for a group project.

V. How "Application Name" is used Internationally?

-Provide examples and/or information about how this application can be used in countries outside of the United States.

Posterous can be used all around the world. It could be an easy way for friends in different countries to connect and keep up with each other's lives. You can share anything you want, with whoever you want. Any person from any country can even set up a group of close friends to keep in touch with.  For EDCI 270, Posterous can be a way for us and our international partners communicate.  In school's, students can keep in touch with a pen pal instead of shooting emails back and forth.
