Learning Environment

A computer lab with several helpers to aid the students. Fully equipped computers are at the disposal. Environment shall be quiet for quiet working to be done.

Types of Students

Freshmen in an excel working class.

All students have to have the knowledge on how to format and set up a running spreadsheet as required to do basic functions on it.

Students will be given a list of numbers with ranging incomes. They have a computer and have access to FSC for examples on how to set up columns and the formula formatting.

Start by placing all of the names in alphabetical order with their incomes listed in the next column. On next page of sheet add together all of the incomes with the formula bar. Then divide the total so that the average income per person is found. After these steps are complete, students are then required to create something unique with the data provided and must use at least two steps using addition and subtraction and two steps using multiplication and division.

This lesson will apply to all of the students that have any intention on being in computer or business class for the rest of their career. They will in turn use this knowledge to due assignments using the spreadsheet.

The assignment will be graded by the accuracy of their ability to put in the formulas.
10 pts. For achieving the correct answer for the mandatory steps.
10 pts. For completing the four extra steps.
5 pts. For spelling
5 pts. For having columns orderly
