Q: How could Xanga be used within a post secondary educational/learning situation?

A: Like any other level of education Xanga satisfies a students needs for social interaction. Talking to other people on Xanga could help you solve problems or help with questions you may have. Students in college would benefit with this application because they could talk to other students in their class online. Interaction on Xanga could be used as a motivational activity by a teacher to provide information in a more interesting way then just coming to class and doing book work. Students could participate in a conversation on Xanga which could in-turn motivate them more because it would be more interesting. Xanga could also apply to cooperative learning because you could assign small groups and have them interact and share ideas on this application.

Xanga can be used in many productive ways in post secondary education. Students can create a profile of their own and customize what they want everyone to know about them, as well as what they read. In the social scene, this is good because it allows students to have a hands on experience with an application like this that they might not have tried on their own and it also allows students to share their ideas with others and critically think about what the other students are bringing to the table. It forces students to write out their ideas as well as work on their communication with other students electronically. In the education setting this is gives teachers, especially in large class sizes the ability to read all the students responses, as well as it gives the students opportunities to gain experience writing their thoughts clearly and gaining points in class instead of just having it based of a few tests.
