WordPress is a very intuitive content management system and makes updating webpages using it very easy.  Rather than coding and posting entries directly through the website users use WordPress to add new updates and pages and Wordpress, along with assigned theme it's using, seamlessly updates it for the user.

WordPress also automatically indexes all of the posts on the site and makes searching it much easier with it's easy to use "tag" interface. (Amy Baumis)

To use wordpress.org you have to have a reliable server, for example the server here at Purdue. If one wants to add themselves to work on a blog, they must contact the administrator of the blog they would like to add information to. Once contact is made the administrator has to set up the amount of contribution the user has to the blog. To start using WordPress, you need a PHP version 4.3 or greater or MySQL 4.0 or greater. If you meet one of these two requirements, you can simply download the application off of wordpress.org. Once you have the application downloaded, you may begin customizing it however you like. wordpress.org/about.  (Jessica Stadler)
