A wiki can also be used as a means of communication between interested groups.  One such way is how the Providence Preservation Society uses a wiki concerning the "Most Endangered Properties."  The Society uses this wiki to identify, document, and host discussion about historic buildings in the area.  Citation:  Viewed: 3/31/09, url: http://wiki.ppsri.org/tiki-index.php

Wikia is similar to Wikipedia, however, it involves are more community and social aspect.  Jimmy Wales pointed out a wikia site currently being used called "ArmChairGM.wikia.com"  This is a site for sports fans.  Its is meant for sharing sports information but it also very social.  Wales said the Wikia company has made updates for this group.  You can now "friend" and "foe" people and give gifts, which is all meant in good fun.  The behavior is much more casual on Wikia than on Wikipedia even though Wales founded both.

Wikia can be used to help enterprising. It can also be used in the corporate setting because it is easy to use and can be used imediately to fix or work on a problem. It helps keep a person's inbox from being filled up with a bunch of e-mails on the project.
