The purpose of Google Writer is very simple actually.  This program allows users to create new documents and edit them whenever they wish to do so. They can do all this online while working with others in "real-time" which creates an easier flowing working environment. When it comes to using Google Writer within the classrooms this helps teachers and students decide who can view and edit their documents and who can't.  Teachers like to use Google docs to publish upcoming assignments with a brief announcement explaining what to do exactly.  They can also keep track of their students and their progress via an "interactive process" which allows the opportunity for guidance when it could benefit greatly.  When it comes to students keeping track of assignments and what not it makes the student's life so much easier because this program organizes the assignments and everything for them.
