Plants

Post-Secondary Biology

Objective:

Students will be able to explain the differences and similarities between Gymnosperms and Angiosperms, explain vascular tissue in plants, and explain the specialization of certain plants by completing a chart and doing a survey about the plant kingdom.

Materials:

Chart over Gymnosperms and Angiosperms of the plant kingdom.

SurveyMonkey evaluation.

Procedure:

1. Complete the chart of the plant kingdom with the use of pages 466-481 of the textbook, Living Biology.

2. Complete the survey.

Evaluation:

By completing the chart on the difference and similarities of Gymnosperms and Angiosperms, students will be able to effectively put to use what they learned when they complete the SurveyMonkey evaluation.  The instructor will prepare the survey on SurveyMonkey to help students determine the specialization of certain plants and the differences in the two divisions with the help of the completed chart.

Standards Met:

Standard 1- Observe different types of plants and their characteristics according to divisions, etc.

Standard 6- Understanding the evolution of organisms as change over time.
