To set up a printer on a Windows 7 system, follow these steps:
See this page
Follow the general settings here, inserting the name of the printer you wish to use and your Purdue career account username.
On the following screens, choose Generic, and a generic PostScript driver.
If you wish to install printers one at a time you can follow the same instructions for laptops above, however if your desktop is on the Purdue computer network permanently and never used with personal home printers you can simply set your machine to talk directly to your department's CUPS server if it has one.
echo "ServerName <address of cups server>/version=1.1" > ~/.cups/client.conf
or, if you have administrative access to the machine
echo "ServerName <address of cups server>/version=1.1" > /etc/cups/client.conf
For the address of the cups server, use the appropriate server name for your department:
After this is added and your machine is rebooted you will see all departmental printers available to you the next time you print.
